The Adriatic Riviera is perfect for coastal walking, with many natural treasures. Our favourite being the Šibenik archipelago, only a short distance north of Split. Expect wonderful seascapes, paths lined with fragrant wild herbs and towering pine trees.
At the halfway point, we pass through “Hitler’s Eye,” an undersea tunnel dug into the cliffside for German torpedo boats during WWII. The walk concludes at St. Nicholas’ Fortress, the most significant Venetian fortification outside of Venice and UNESCO landmark.
From the islet of Školjić, we transfer into the enchanting old town of Šibenik. Enjoy free time exploring its medieval charm and labyrinthine streets. There are many wonderful restaurants to enjoy.
Refreshed, we continue into the hills above Šibenik. The Peninsula is surrounded by century-old dry-stone walls and olive trees. All leading the trail to our next stop. Stone mountains give way to lush green forests as we enter the National Park. The roar of cascading waterfalls fills the air, with natural pools sparkling under the sun. The scenery that unfolds is breathtaking.
After the walking comes the wine. Time to discover the essence of Croatian winemaking, paired with fine dining style dishes. With the walking complete, we head to a country estate for an immersive food and wine experience. The rugged roads indicating at the slower pace of life. As we wait for dinner, we’ll head to their barrel cellar for a few glasses of merlot and zinfandel. Hard to imagine, but the food is even better than the wine.
